The Wharton's World
April 2000

Hello everyone! There was no clear favorite among the newsletter name suggestions we received, so we have decided to change the name monthly. Watch this space for interesting W words and phrases!

First, here are updates on some of the things we mentioned last time.

Kati has not yet become "metal-mouth". She is scheduled to get her braces on June 1st (the day before our beach vacation!) She is hoping pain will not be involved, so she can enjoy the beach!

Kati completed and submitted her application to Wake Forest for the evening MBA program. She is scheduled to take the GMAT exam on May 25th. If anyone knows where she can buy some math skills (preferably in a bottle), please let her know! In the meantime, she will have to prepare by STUDYING!

Now for the new stuff.

Our church celebrated Passover with a Seder on April 19th. We really enjoyed it, even though we got some funny looks since John wore a yarmulke and Kati wore a lace shawl as a head covering! But fun was had by all and hopefully everyone learned a few new things.

Then, on Saturday April 22nd, we had an Easter Egg hunt with the PowerHouse kids. PowerHouse is a ministry to inner city kids in High Point - we pick them up in buses and vans and take them to the church for a fun worship service, kid style. For the egg hunt, we took them (about 200 of them) to a local park instead of to the church. The children's pastors spoke about the meaning of Easter, the mime troupe did a drama, and then we turned the kids loose! There were about 3000 goodies (plastic eggs filled with candy, and individually wrapped treats) "hidden" - some in plain sight for the little kids. They found and scooped them all up in about 7 minutes!

Finally, on Sunday April 23rd, Kati sang in a choir for the church Easter worship service.

That's it for this month. We are thankful for friends and family like you and wish you peace and blessings always and in all ways. Ecclesiastes 4: 9 - 10.
